At the beginning of August I was asked to host the Basic Hair Care launch party during Bronner Brothers Hair Show weekend here in Atlanta.
I was super excited as Basic is a new brand that I fell in love with during the February 2013 Bronner Brothers after volunteering to be a hair model for them. In a short period of time I have garnered a relationship with their team and was pleasantly surprised when I was chosen to be their host during such a momentous occasion.
The company and position was new but hosting has been something I have been doing for three years with 'Fro Fashion Week. It was great in getting from behind the scenes and being seen in the industry as more of a personality!
The day began with me arriving at Bronner Brothers Sunday morning to get my hair done for the event. Latoya Brown, Director of Education for Basic Hair care did my hair in a beautiful puff style mohawk using the Basic Boost line.
It was definitely a showstopper!
The venue was beautiful and I definitely enjoyed the experience. As I reflected on hosting that event I remembered how I was always the child who got talkative written on every report card and progress report. No matter where I sat in class I would talk to whoever would listen. After years of fighting my mom finally threw in the towel and said "Tarin Denise I don't know what you're going to be when you get older but I know it's something where you can run your mouth!" And as many young adults hate to admit it Mom was right !
It was only fitting for me to go off to college and choose a major where I could once again use my gift of gab. Those talkative remarks and reprimands have been used towards building my businesses.
Some gifts are God-given while others are honed. I'm happy to say mine is a perfect combination of both!
Building. Over. Obstacles. No. Excuses.
